Uli Möller was born and raised in Wattenscheid. He gained his first experiences from the stagings of Peter Zadek at the theater Schauspielhaus Bochum in Bochum. He attended the University of Television and Film (HFF) in Munich, where he earned his degree with the direction of the tv film ‘Lisa und der wilde Flieger’, which was co-produced by public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk
Centropolis Sindelfingen, 1986-1991:
As a line producer for Centropolis film production from 1986 bis 1991, he worked with Roland Emmerich, producing the movies Hollywood-Monster and Moon 44. At this stage of his career, he was also part of the production team of the movies ‘Flucht in den Norden’ and ‘Helsinki Napoli – All Night Long’, and worked as well as production manager for three tv films for ZDF.
Producer, UMF München, 1990-1997:
He founded his own company ‘Uli Möller Filmproduktion’ (UMF) based in Munich in 1990, producing mainly tv commercials and company profiles, for clients such as Siemens, Deutsche Telekom, Der Spiegel, Die Grünen and Karlsberg . UMF developed about 200 productions, apart from commercials including the tv film ‘The seven sacraments of Canudos’ and the series ‘Ein Platz für Vampire’.
While working with UMF, Möller began directing for his productions more frequently, which in 1995 led to his decision, to concentrate on working as a director. Following series productions for ARD’s ‘Verbotene Liebe’, ‘Balko’ (RTL) and the productions of ZDF’s ‘Ein Fall für Zwei, ‘Rosenheim-Cops’ and ‘Nesthocker’, as well as Sat.1’s ‘Broti & Pacek’ were tv films like ‘Holiday Affair’ (2000, ProSieben), ‘Kälter als der Tod’ (2001, SAT1) and ‘Der schwedische Freund’ for the Tatort film series (2004, SWR).
Uli has started the independent film production company Luis Films and started off with their first movie ‘Il cuore in mano, i piedi sulla strada’, an episodic film about life along the road SS 16 Adriatica in Italy.
